Students of the Mass Communication Department at Miva Open University embarked on an exciting and insightful academic excursion to Arise News, one of Nigeria’s leading broadcast media organisations. The visit, held as part of the department’s industry immersion programme, offered the students a practical exposure to real-world journalism, newsroom operations, and contemporary broadcast technology.
Upon arrival at the Arise News headquarters in Lagos, the students were warmly received by members of the station’s editorial and technical teams. The visit began with a guided tour of the newsroom, where students observed the fast-paced environment in which news stories are sourced, verified, and prepared for broadcast. The tour also included the studio control room, production suites, and live broadcast studio, giving students a rare behind-the-scenes look at how television news is produced.
During an interactive session, Arise News editors and presenters shared valuable insights about the evolving nature of journalism in Nigeria and across the globe.
